Residents in Onitsha and Nnewi shut down markets, financial institutions

The sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movenent for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of
Biafra(MASSOB) witnessed total compliance in the commercial cities of Onitsha and Nnewi as residents of both cities shut down schools, markets and financial institutions in commemoration of the Biafra Heroes day.

The Biafra heroes day is a day mapped out to remember the fallen heroes and heroines of Biafra Land who lost their lives in the course of the Nigerian Civil war and May 30 of every year has been mapped out as a day of remembrance for these heroes.

Peaceful protests were staged in most states especially the South Eastern states of Nigeria. Speaking after the exercise, Augustine Egbeh, thanked Ohanaeze NdiIgbo for their compliance towards the Sit-at-home order. He said he was grateful because their were no cases of attack by the Nigerian Security officials.

Recall that several were killed and many injured during the 2016 Biafra Heroes Remembrance Day.
