PHOTOS: Young military officer lynched to death in Ghana.




A military man identified as Captain Maxwell Mahama was lynched by residents of Denkyira Boaso on Monday, 29th May, 2017. It was
reported that the Army Officer was mistaken for an armed robber.

Maxwell who is the commander of military detachment in the area was jogging along the Boaso-Diaso road when he asked some women for direction. The women who suspected him, alerted the youths who lynched and burnt his body.

Meanwhile, Ghana Armed Forces has reportedly commenced investigations into the incident. The incident has sent anxiety within the town after they had realized that he was a military officer.

The armed forces Director of Public Relations, Col. Aggrey-Quarshie said that the army had organized a fact-finding team led by the Chief of Army staff and are already proceeding to the area to gather more information about the incident.

He also said that they were in collaboration with other security agencies to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book.


The initial report of the armed force indicates that "the officer was lynched by the residents of Denkyira Boaso while he was jogging at about 08:30am on Monday, 29th May under circumstances yet to be ascertained."

The armed forces has also urged its personnel to remain calm as the perpetrators must surely be brought to book.
